On the ground floor we can see the Parlour , the Dining room and the Vestibule.
The Parlour is used mostly for visitors but Vita may settle in there in the evenings after dinner for an hour or so before bed.
The Vestibule won't have stairs in it as they would be in the hall behind. The vestibule is the place for dealing with wet coats or checking your hat is on straight before you leave the house, whereas the hall is in a more 'private' part of the house and leads to the stairs and the domestic areas.
The Dining room is larger than the parlour as this is a busy and well used room 'en famille' or with visitors.
Upstairs we are able to see the Front bedroom, the Drawing room and the Toilet.
The front bedroom is used by Vita.
The drawing room is also Vita's room and is used in conjunction with the balcony. It is used all day by Vita and she even receives her close friends there; they don't mind the slight muddle of this room. She will use the balcony as she uses the room and often sits there to sew, read, paint or sketch.
Also in this part of the house is the Toilet; toilets generally were separate from the bathrooms as it was considered unhygienic. Not a bad idea if you had a family of eight or ten or more using one single toilet and bathroom! No 'two and a half bathrooms' in this house.
Sadly the height of the roof won't lend itself to my conjuring the two servants' rooms so, again, those will have to go in the unseen pot.
